We are pleased to present the third Sonatrach Raffineria Italiana Sustainability Report, a document that reflects our commitment to economic, social and environmental sustainability. As SRI, we have been on a sustainable development journey since 2018, with the fundamental understanding that the well-being of our people and the community in which we operate is the guiding star we must follow to achieve our goal of creating a truly sustainable and positive business.
The Sustainability Report is an important tool that allows us to measure and improve our journey towards creating an increasingly positive impact for the territory and our community, especially in these complex times. The Oil & Gas industry is at a critical juncture, driven by global challenges such as reducing carbon emissions and changing community expectations. In this context, we feel an even greater responsibility to operate safely, efficiently and in an environmentally responsible manner, and to contribute to the progress of the society in which we operate.
Our mission is twofold: to provide the market with reliable and secure energy, and to do so with an approach that values sustainability and innovation. We are committed to ensuring the continuity of our operations while minimising our impact on the environment through the use of sustainable practices and advanced technologies. We have launched major initiatives and made significant investments to reduce emissions, optimise energy consumption and promote the transition to low-carbon solutions.
Safety and health are and will remain absolute values for us. We continually invest in training, infrastructure improvement and corporate culture to ensure that our employees, collaborators and partners work in a safe and secure environment. Recent years have further highlighted the importance of organisational resilience and caring for people, principles that we will continue to promote with determination.
In terms of social impact, we are aware of our role in local communities. We therefore maintain an ongoing and transparent dialogue with the territories in which we operate, supporting social, economic and cultural development initiatives.
We will continue to invest in the training and skill development of our people and those in neighbouring areas, supporting local employment and promoting the development of socially responsible projects.
We also see the energy transition as a great opportunity. We believe that the Oil & Gas sector, with its expertise and resources, can play a key role in diversifying the energy mix and promoting renewable energies. Our strategy is to research technologies for the progressive decarbonisation of our processes and to explore the potential of new technologies related to the refining of non-fossil raw materials.
